5th box added

recently added our fifth stamp…not a new letterbox, but a really cool group effort, growing “treasurebox” of 10 stamps in one location (in galveston)

7/16/07 happiness is....

signs of progress with puppy training!

7/17/07 playing with my son

today we played catch (with a little nerf football with a tail)...i’m amazed at how good he can throw and catch (especially such a little ball) for four years old. working on not throwing so hard when you’re close! we played a little “transformers”...amazing how much marketing can accomplish…isn’t really aware that a movie is out, but knows all the transformer lingo!

7/17/07 exercise

failed today! too much stress and chaos..though exercise would have been a good diversion from that! :-(

7/17/07 playing with carter

today was kinda rough…very busy schedule…lot of stress. we had a little bit of time to play before bath. he wanted to play with some new transformers, but the damn things require an engineering degree to transform, which ate up too much of the play time.

vacation

as i'm looking forward to some time away from the usual, this recent thought from the Rumors newsletter caught my eye:

I hope you're sitting somewhere with a lovely view and a warm summer breeze, pretending to read a book, while your mind sort of kanoodles around not thinking much of anything.
Or at least, that is my idea of a summer vacation. I think rest is an important part of ministry – ministry to self. The ancient creation legend says God needed a rest after a week of work. I wonder if not taking a rest time is a kind of heresy. When we do that (and yes, I plead guilty on lots of occasions) are we saying in effect that God may need a rest, but we don’t?
If God does self care, shouldn’t we?

daily happiness 7/14/07

compassion toward my family
quietness
no rain today!

7/14/07 playing with my son

it was really late and we should have been getting ready for bed, but i’d hate to fail on my new goal on the first day! so we played a little of some crazy made up story about two superhero type guys who were fighting and had magical swords and the good guy had six tiny puppies who each had their own toys and who then got tired and had to eat their dinner and go to bed. oh and there was a magical rope that wound around the good guy when he got sleepy.

make time for play

it’s really hard to make time each day, but i know the things that often fill up my time aren’t nearly as important. it doesn’t have to be very long and it doesn’t have to be just the thing i’d want to do (though sometimes i’m sure that’s good for him to learn to be flexible!)

today

treadmill 30min, 2.084 miles, 323 cals, speed 5/3.2 (12min/18:45min)

exercising goals

bowflex 3 days a week (and thanks to ann for encouraging me to maintain this!)
and treadmill at least all the other days of the week.

letterboxing goals

i just started letterboxing a few weeks ago. it’s a lot of fun finding boxes, but also planting them (that just takes a a little more work!) i’ve planted four so far.
